Yes, Giannis Antetokounmpo received a 10-second free throw violation in crunch time.

Nearing one minute left in regulation of Game 1 vs. the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo received a 10-second free throw violation from the officials.

For those unfamiliar with how the 10-second free throw violation works, if a player at the charity stripe takes more than 10 seconds to shoot, the ball will be turned over to the opposition. Because of this unforced error by Antetokounmpo, it contributed to the Heat forcing overtime in Game 1. Milwaukee would go on to win on an amazing near-buzzer-beater from Khris Middleton, 109-107.

As expected, Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer went apoplectic after the controversial call.

One of these calls is so rare you probably never even heard of it before. For this to have been called during Game 1 of an Eastern Conference playoff game and one featuring the two-time reigning NBA MVP is just patently absurd. Milwaukee is fortunate that Middleton hit that clutch bucket in overtime. Otherwise, we would be talking about the officials at the water cooler Monday.

Overall, Milwaukee is lucky to get a Game 1 series victory by the skin of its teeth. Miami may be the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, but this is a team that made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago in the Orlando bubble. Though Milwaukee is still favored to advance out of this first-round series, there is no way the Bucks are sweeping the Heat.

Antetokounmpo should give Middleton a big hug for bailing him out after his boneheaded move.
