If the sign of being an adult is getting excited about cleaning products, consider me all grown up, because my new favorite habit of slurping dirt and dust off of my floors with the Dyson V11 Outsize Cordless Vacuum has me damn near jumping for joy.

The Internet has long sung the praises of the V11 Outsize—it’s got thousands of 5-star reviews on Dyson’s website, and 91 percent of users say they would recommend it to a friend—but its $800 price tag is admittedly enough to make anyone balk. $800? For a vacuum?? As someone who has never owned a vacuum cleaner before (which is probably not something I should openly admit on the Internet), I could not even begin to fathom what would possibly make any cleaning supply worth that amount of money. But now that I’ve got a V11 of my own, I get it.

Dyson V11 Outsize Cordless Vacuum

Aside from the fact that it checks all of the most important boxes that any good vacuum cleaner should—it’s lightweight, lifts up every conceivable type of dirt and debris in a single pass, and holds a charge for long enough to clean my entire apartment—it also goes above and beyond with special features. It comes with six different attachments so that it can effectively clean any type of surface (from the rug under your bed to the crevices in your couch), and has the ability to shape shift from a full-sized vacuum cleaner into a hand-held dust buster.

My favorite vacuum attachment—because I’m apparently a person who has “favorite vacuum attachments” now—is the High Torque XL cleaner head, which is 25 percent bigger than Dyson’s other vacuum heads, and helps to cut down on my cleaning time because it covers more floor space. Speaking of floor space, the device is also somehow smart enough to know when you’re using it on carpet versus wood versus tile, and is able to adjust itself accordingly.

And one more thing? The bin, which holds onto all the dirt the vacuum sucks up from my floor, is massive, which means I rarely ever have to empty it. It cleans my entire apartment in 15 minutes flat, and though it’s a pretttty small studio, it’s still impressive.

So while $800 is certainly not cheap, by any stretch of the imagination, in this case I’m a big believer that it’s worth it. The V11 Outsize will get your floors (and couch cushions and shelves) sparkling clean a whole lot faster than your standard vacuum, which will leave you with far more time to do things like write love letters to your vacuum cleaner on the Internet. Or maybe that’s just me.
