Not what the Lakers and their fans want to see heading into the playoffs.

Midway through the fourth quarter Sunday, LeBron James went down after rolling his ankle. Los Angeles, holding its collective breath, would not see James return to the court.

James would get up under his own power and limp to the bench, and would finish with 25 points in the win over the Pelicans.

Needless to say, the Lakers are going to need James heading into the play-in tournament: The Lakers are set to face off against Steph Curry and the Warriors this week for a shot at the 2021 NBA playoffs.

LeBron James injury update

After the contest Sunday, Lakers coach Frank Vogel said that James will be “good to go” heading into the No. 7 seed’s matchup vs. No. 8 seed Golden State. Vogel would say James has “no issues” with the ankle.

The Lakers star returned to the court on Saturday after missing time with an ankle inury, the same ankle that he re-aggravated Sunday. In Saturday’s game, he put up 24 points in 28 minutes in a win over the Pacers.

James has played in 45 of a possible 72 games for LA this season, missing the majority of that time with that nagging ankle injury.
