For a few hours, fans of the New York Mets were able to enjoy positive news as it pertains to injury updates.
That feeling didn’t last through the start of Friday’s game at the Miami Marlins.
The Mets confirmed on Friday that slugger Pete Alonso and right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter have both been placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Wednesday. Alonso is dealing with a right hand sprain, while Hunter has lower back pain.
In corresponding roster moves, the Mets recalled right-hander Yennsy Diaz from Triple-A Syracuse and selected the contract for utility player Brandon Drury from Triple-A.
