I got an email that Dagne Dover, a bag company, is launching a new consumer to consumer resell platform and was intrigued. Basically you can list old products you want to sell, it'll give you their product specs, and they send the shipping label. After selling, you can either receive 70% of the sale as cash, or 100% as store credit.
It seems either interesting or a money grab (70% is a terrible margin) but I was wondering if other companies will follow this on their own products? It seems kind of like Patagonia's resell program, what other companies have this?
Is this a good idea to reduce waste, or do Poshmark, ThredUp, etc. already fill this niche?
Just wanted to discuss!
