r/femalefashionadvice – How to coordinate lesbian wedding dresses?

My fiancée and I are both very femme and will be wearing dresses to our wedding next September! At first we were shopping separately and planning to keep our picks a surprise, but the people who saw each of our top choice dresses said they didn’t coordinate well.

It’s super important to us that our dresses look GOOD next to each other. So, we decided to take the L and just look, and yeahhh it’s not good. Luckily my fiancée wants to keep shopping anyway, so we need to find her a dress that will coordinate with mine.

So I guess the overarching question is: how the hell does one coordinate two wedding dresses?? Google is not helpful with this lol. We don’t want to be too matchy-matchy, but clashing isn’t good either.

I’m open to more general advice as well as advice specific to coordinating with my top choice dress

She likes mermaid or fit-and-flare silhouettes, but the rest of the details are kind of up in the air 🤷🏻‍♀️ Help very much appreciated!

Edit: Here’s a side by side of my dress with one very similar to hers. We both think it looks like “too much” like the dresses are competing rather than playing off each other. We care as much about looking good together as we do looking good separately!
