Women are leading the way in the sustainability movement with high-profile figures like actress and environmentalist Suzy Amis Cameron launching organizations like Red Carpet Green Dress (RCGD) along with the app to educate and connect the growing sustainable fashion community. RCGD, a women-led organization highlighting sustainable fashion choices for red carpet events such as the Oscars, celebrated it’s 10th year anniversary in 2019. For Earth Day 2021, the organization launched the self-titled app as a way to strike up a new conversation about sustainability within the eco-community.
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world and the environmental damage is increasing as the industry grows. We can all make a difference, and we all need to. ~ RCGD

RCGD’s new eco app is available on iTunes and Google Play to offer readers a chance to stay connected with the organization while also being active in workshops, surveys and other events in the sustainable fashion space. Subscribers will also have a chance to view exclusive recordings from leaders and interviews from sustainable stylists about how to implement eco tips into their own wardrobes.
Since its 2009 launch RCGD has offered attendees and viewers of red carpet events stunning collaborations within the sustainable fashion space. In 2010, RCGD had its first design winner, a Michigan State University senior who designed an Oscar worthy dress from peace silk. 2020 marked the first Tencel partnership that re-envisioned couture pieces in the biodegradable fabric. Other partnerships have seen designers like Vivienne Westwood highlight the beauty of no-waste design with couture dresses made from recycled and sustainable fabrics.
Much like the organization itself the app aims to ‘draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in fashion and to be part of bringing those solutions to the global market.’ Scrolling through it offers a more in-depth look at how the RCGD community has been a pioneer in the sustainable space for more than a decade. From video recordings to chats, you will be able to connect and discuss how we can all build a more sustainable future together.
