Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. That much has been made clear. However, it’s unclear if the Packers will accommodate the reigning MVP and trade him.
Several reports on Wednesday added to the Rodgers’ saga. First, we heard that Rodgers mocked general manager Brian Gutekunst in a group text with his teammates. Then we heard that Green Bay believes the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers tampered with Rodgers by asking him if he wants to play for them. We also heard that the Packers offered to make Rodgers the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback in an effort to repair their relationship with the signal-caller.
ESPN’s Mike Garafolo decided to empty the tank on “NFL Now,” saying that Rodgers told free agents that he probably wasn’t going to play in Green Bay in 2021.
“I’ll add one more thing to this because now it’s all coming out,” Garafolo said. “What I’m told from multiple sources is that Aaron Rodgers was telling the Packers’ prospective free agents, basically, ‘Before you make any decision, I’m probably not going to be here.’ To the point where he was telling them, I’m told, all the way back to the beginning of last season.”
