- Asus has formally confirmed the Asus ROG Phone 5 launch date: March 9, 2021.
- The company has a dedicated website for the phone with a countdown timer.
- So far, there’s no info on when you’ll be able to get the phone nor how much it will cost.
Earlier today, we reported that Asus finally confirmed what we’d long suspected: there will not be an Asus ROG Phone 4. In Chinese culture, the number four is considered unlucky due to it being a homonym for “death.” As such, Asus is skipping from the ROG Phone 3 going straight to five.
Now, we have an official Asus ROG Phone 5 launch date. Over at the official Asus Republic of Gamers website, you can find a page dedicated to the ROG Phone 5. There, you’ll see a countdown timer running down the numbers until March 9, 2021.
According to the page, the scheduled launch event will start at 7:00 PM in Taipei, which is 6:00 AM ET. To convert the time to your local time zone, click here.
Asus ROG Phone 5 launch date confirmed, but not much else
Unfortunately, the webpage doesn’t divulge much information on the phone itself. Other than the name and the launch date/time, the page is basically empty.
However, we have plenty of rumors to run on related to the ROG Phone 5. We are almost certain it will come with a Snapdragon 888 processor, Android 11, and a massive 6.8-inch display. There could even be a mini display on the back that could be used for notifications and other bits of info.
