It’s no secret how much I love a beautiful tablescape, and this baby shower table was a joy to put together. I can’t wait for the next occasion when Inès can join us and I’m already planning another corner of our new home perfect for a chic and colourful lunch, with the sound of birdsong and summer sun streaming through the windows. Here’s my tablescaping 101 to help you create your own summer party.

Mixing up the crockery creates a really personal feel – mix and match patterns and styles, new and vintage, along the table. These coquille dining plates by Adam Lippes for OKA and these red painted plates by Richard Ginori  are some of my staples at the moment. I always think scalloping is so dainty. These pretty shell dishes from Carolina Irving & Daughters are perfect for my scallop theme and I’d had them on my shopping wishlist for months.

I wanted to layout to feel like an overflowing, blooming garden. This tablecloth is by Lucy Sherwood and the hand-embroidered napkins are by Lottie Mayland paired with these velvet bows by Caspisanti. The bows come in a few colours, all of which are so easy to style for tables all year round. I can see myself bringing them out at Christmas too.

Flowers from the garden and some colour-coordinated candles are the real finishing touch to any tabletop. I love to use old jam jars for flowers, but these vases from Birdie Fortescue  add a really light and feminine touch, and also match my tulips perfectly! When the light shines through them they turn parts of the table pastel pink and green, which Honor absolutely loves. Candlesticks are from Issy Grainger and Hoste Home. Along with the flowers, they add some different heights to the table and make the whole thing come alive!

Finally, the menu was created by @posiehallfood. She is extremely talented and created incredible food for us. The service is amazing, with delivery and a bespoke menu discussion included.

xx,
