Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be getting a new multiplayer game mode called Double Agent in its fifth season next week.

Described as ‘an investigative Multiplayer party experience’ – each match sees players assigned one of three roles: Double Agents, Investigators or Operatives. The aim of the Double Agents is to either eliminate everyone else or set off an explosive charge on the map. The Investigator meanwhile gets clues to the identity of the Double Agents. The Operatives meanwhile must work together to eliminate the Double Agents before its too late.

Players will start each round with a pistol, with further weapons and equipment to be obtained in the Preparing Stage. Each role also has access to specific skills and gear. For example, Double Agents can use Gas Mines, Counter Spy Planes and Combat Bows, while Investigators can use Trophy Systems, Hand Cannons and the ability to see the footprints of an attacker upon discovering a corpse. The devs strongly encourage voice chat when playing the mode, giving proceedings a distinctly Among Us vibe.

You can check out a trailer for the new mode for yourself below. Season Five will also see the introduction of five new maps, new perks, map updates for Warzone and new Operator Kitune. Season Five alongside Double Agent mode drops in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty Warzone on August 12 and you can read a full breakdown on the Call of Duty website.

Earlier this week, developers from many of the Call of Duty studios and other teams across Activision Blizzard formed a new ABK Workers Alliance in response to company management’s own response to a lawsuit from the State of California alleging of a toxic workplace environment.
