Life Update-What I Wore

Do you remember hearing that walking is the gentlest exercise and anyone can do it? Apparently, not always. It turns out that I’ve injured myself by suddenly walking way too much. How embarrassing is that?

Apparently, walking hills, along the seawall every day, rapid pool walking, then stair climbing in quick succession is out of my comfort zone. I’ve strained something down the front of my shin which is very painful so I saw my daughter’s physical therapist on Tuesday. He did some excruciating things to my leg, gave me some stretches to do at home, and put me on ice/heat/rest/Advil on repeat, and told me to chill.

I did for one day then we decided to drive out to the UBC area yesterday and hit a sale. It was sunny warm and relaxing. We had vegan, gluten-free pizza on an outside patio, then hit Murchie’s.

I wore my cushy sneakers and walked slowly to stock up on our favorite tea that we usually pay to ship home to California. I also bought several other goodies that were not included in the sale. Am I the only person who does that?

I found a tea cozy for my pot and lots of other great things…that I did not need. Shopping as therapy does have its benefits. My local tea shops at home are just not this well-stocked. The weather is amazing here so we are soaking up as much time outside as possible.

It’s bizarre. I’m doing plenty of online exercises. Yoga classes, lifting lightweights, and using exercise bands…but walking in the wrong shoes… have done me in. Luckily, I have a book to finish so I plan to enjoy the view from our apartment and chill so I can heal quickly and not ruin the rest of our vacation.

Have you ever hurt yourself doing something as simple as walking?
