The Sabrent EC-SNVE; A Fancy USB-C Home For Your NVMe

Almost As Nice As Their SSD Packaging!

If you are looking for a dead simple SSD enclosure which you can pop open with the push of a button then checking out the Sabrent EC-SVNE external drive enclosure is worth your time.  It is a slim aluminium stick, measuring 5.59 x 5.76 x 0.63″ with an ABS frame inside to keep your M.2 drive safe and operating at a reasonable temperature and costs less than $30.

The connection is a well implemented USB 3.2 Gen 2 plug, which Tweaktown measured transferring at 1055 MB/s read and 1015 MB/s write in CrystalDiskMark when they installed a Sabrent Rocket 4 NVMe drive; not even the Plus model.  As that is about the best you can hope for from USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection, even a faster NVMe drive won’t improve transfer rates.  Then again, at that speed you don’t really have much to complain about.

The enclosure will handle M.2 2242, 2260 or 2280, and to make it even more attractive you can grab the discount code from Tweaktown’s review to drop the price even further.
