it’s time for a girl’s trip! in today’s post, i share what to pack for a 3-day getaway. if you follow along on Instagram Stories, then you know i zipped over to Savannah with a dear friend from my Houston days for a girl’s getaway. Savannah is a visual feast to the eyes due to its historic architecture. it comes in first place for most haunted cities in the USA, what with a history that dates back to the pre-Revolutionary War. luckily most of Savannah’s historic buildings weren’t burned down to the ground during the destructive Civil War campaign Sherman’s March to the Sea, which began in Atlanta on November 15th, 1864, and concluded in Savannah on December 21st, 1864. Savannah was spared as the Confederate Army did not want the city leveled as had happened to Atlanta and abandoned the city, retreating to South Carolina. General Sherman then bequeathed President Lincoln the fallen city of Savannah and 25,000 bales of cotton as a Christmas present in 1864.

these days, Savannah hosts spooky ghost tours where tour guides share a wealth of the town’s history, including the most recent scandal depicted in the book opens in a new windowMidnight in the Garden of  Good and Evil. Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low hails from Savannah, and her birthplace has turned into a museum. Savannah’s hometown college SCAD is worth a visit, and don’t forget to mosey on down to the Savannah River and walk along cobblestone River Street. the historic district is drool-worthy littered with mansions, monuments, rowhouses, manicured gardens, and twenty city squares. of course, there are churches galore in Savannah like The First African Baptist Church, the oldest black congregation in the USA or the ‘Sistine of the South’ The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Bonaventure Cemetery is a must-see attraction that rests on 100 acres! the culinary scene is quite eclectic in Savannah. and the shopping ain’t bad either. join me this week as i share the outfits come to life! it’s all about what to pack for a 3-day getaway to Savannah.

what to pack for a 3-day getaway

since Savannah is an easy road trip, less than four hours door to door, my travel outfit needs to be cute and comfy. recently, i tried on Sweaty Betty on for size, and i love this brand known for its workout and athleticwear. in my book, a opens in a new windowt-shirt dress is the perfect summer dress, but sometimes the fabric can be flimsy. not so with this opens in a new windowstriped t-shirt dress that’s thick enough not to see through yet soft enough to be comfortable. plus, it has pockets! i could easily have sized down to a small, but sometimes when i size down, i run the risk of dresses ending up too short… so i chose my usual size medium. wear this cute summer dress with sneakers, sandals, or espadrilles. the choices are endless.

the cute apartment we rented located on Bay Street. take a look at those stairs. yep, we hauled our luggage up twenty steps then back down upon our departure.

Bay Street is the perfect location as you can walk to all of the shopping and dining venues with ease. our apartment overlooked the Savannah River on one side and Bay Street on the other.
